Joseph DeGol, NEEC summer intern from Pennsylvania State University, explains his project, "Target Tracking for Autonomous Quadrotor."

Joseph's research was part of the Perceptual Robotics Lab (PeRL) at the University of Michigan where NEEC students and faculty study problems related to the autonomous navigation and mapping for mobile robots in a priori unknown environments with a directed focus on computer vision techniques for perceptual sensing. Autonomous systems research is playing an ever growing and more crucial role in the Navy active fleet.

Joseph's mentor on this project was Ryan Eustice, University of Michigan, Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.
